I've seen dozens and dozens of wrist shots with people with 6-7" wrists. For those with 7.5"+ wrists, please post up some wrist shot pics with your Daytona. I've got an 8" wrist, and due to the rarity of the Daytona, haven't been able to try one on. My first Rolex was a DeepSea, then I added a SubC, GMTIIc and ExplorerII 42mm. My favorite is without a doubt the SubC, as it's just a perfect size, weight and height. Now the Daytona is in the crosshairs. My wrist size is 7.5".
Of all the pictures above, I think the Daytona suits the chap with the 8" wrist best, but it looks good on everyone I've ever seen it on (boy or girl); 40mm tends to work with most wrist sizes (albeit 5" would be too small and 9" too big), but of course this is just my opinion!
A Week On The Wrist The Rolex Daytona Ref. 116500LN. Is there a great watch under all the hype, or is the Daytona all sizzle and no steak?
The daytona looks like a little toy watch on my wrist, and barely fits over my hand with the bracelet maxed out.Bezel, minute track and three counters: this characteristic five-circle iconography is emblematic of the Cosmograph Daytona. And its dial, with a white background and black counters – sometimes known as the “Panda” by collectors – has become a classic. Just like on the all-new dressy 1908, Rolex has decided to put an exhibition case back on the platinum Daytona (yes, just that version for now). This allows you to see the 4131 movement with Rolex’s version of the very typical Côtes de Genève striping.
Based on your other pics, while your wrist is 7.5, it looks very. round. My wrist is 6.25”, but extremely flat. The first AD I went to tried to convince me into getting a 41, he said the 36 was “popular with the ladies”
Daytona is a perfect size IMO. Tried it on my 7.25" wrist and fits well. Really its all how you perceive it that matters and only YOU are right. Rolex can continue to make it at 40mm and it will still be a great seller. The 42MM + crowd can opt for Breitling, Omega, etc if they want for a larger case chrono. Don't trust Hodinkee?
