Divers should be a bit larger and look ok on the wrist even if they are a bit oversized. I had pretty much the same dilemma and went for the 41 mm. I tried the SM300 and it wore way too big on my 6.5 inch wrist, with long lug to lug height. PO 39.5 wears far better with short lug to lug height. You have a few options. Give the Seamaster Pro with a rubber strap a try. It might fit you well. Seamaster AT or the Speedy Pro should be options for you as well.
As an individual with a fairly flat 6.25” wrist who has tried the seamaster 300 on, it was too big for me personally. I’m more comfortable around the 38-40mm case size range. All depends on how much you like it. Sounds like you’re on the fence, maybe go try on a 38mm aqua terra, see how it . Wrist circumference may not be the best indicator for this watch.
